PETCO FOUNDATION
FUNDS CHANGE LIVES IN STATEN ISLAND
STATEN ISLAND,
NY, MARCH 29, 2009 - The year begins on a high note for thousands
of animal rescue groups worldwide, like P.L.U.T.O. Rescue of Richmond
County that will receive donations from the 2008 Tree of Hope Fundraiser,
hosted by PETCO and the PETCO Foundation.
The five-week campaign
generated $3 million in donations from the company's customers, vendors
and associates. This year P.L.U.T.O. Rescue of Richmond County received
funds donated by the PETCO store at 2752 Veterans Road West in the
Charleston section of Staten Island, NY.
Local
proceeds from Tree of Hope 2008 will be used by
P.L.U.T.O. Rescue of Richmond County to further its mission
of rescuing homeless, abandoned, sick and unwanted animals by
providing them medical attention and unconditional love until placed in
their forever home.
"We are greatful to everyone who contributed
and hope they all know they helped to make this world a kinder, safer, and
happier place to be for the wonderful animals so near to our hearts," said
PETCO Foundation Vice President Paul Jolly. "Tree of Hope has not only
helped sustain the lives of animals in need of care and compassion, but
has helped nourish the spirit of hope that defines the PETCO
